Mindfulness practice, such as attending to our own breath, and noticing our own thoughts as they come and go, without grabbing on to them, is a very effective tool for learning to observe and let go of distressing feelings like anxiety, self-doubt, and fears of success or failure - without buying into them. Mindfulness is also an excellent tool for engaging and strengthening the frontal and prefrontal areas of the brain. These areas are responsible for analyzing situations, coming up with the best plan for success, and staying focused.

In addition, recent research has shown that long-term practice is associated with increased thickness in these brain regions, indicating a very real physiological improvement. See yourself moving along points on a timeline, step by step, toward the completed goal. With each step forward, envision yourself as being ever more organized, self-confident, and determined. Allow yourself to fully experience the feelings you will have once the goal is completed, such as pride, satisfaction, and relief.

Guided imagery and hypnosis are especially powerful tools for making success a mental, and eventually literal, reality. Work with a licensed mental health provider who is certified in hypnotherapy , or try one of the many good self-hypnosis audio products available. In summary, procrastination is a challenge for a large number of people. The good news is that there is quite a bit we can do to change old patterns, develop new skills, and get things done!

Why five minutes is enough to beat procrastination

This book serves as a great basic blueprint for productivity, raising motivation and decreasing procrastination. It was recommended by a friend and I can see why, i have found it all very useful and easy to listen to. How does this one compare? First time but he has a very pleasant voice to listen to. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I like to break books into various days to give me time to really think about and consider the advice I am being given. Slowly, i am finding myself getting more done - in less time - not much more i can say than that other than thanks to the author! I found this a lot easier to follow than most people in this field many of which feel unrealistic or unrelated to my everyday life. I have always had issues with getting stuff done - I am one of those people who always TALKED about doing stuff and complained about stuff I was not happy with such as having too much clutter in my house but never ever did anything practical to solve these issues.

I was procrastinating. It took me a long time to really accept this and stop making excuses. This book really helped me with basic but very interesting steps to follow to basically get off my butt and do more, both in my personal life and in work life. It is a work in progress thing but I can really say this book helped a LOT and I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone and everyone! I liked it that the steps and advice areas were laid out in a very simple to follow fashion. Procrastination is pretty horrible and at times even debilitating.

I cannot claim to the mains most productive man after listening to this, but i am certainly getting a lot more done in life than I used to That it felt realistic and suitable and fitting to my own life! Back Find a Therapist. But there comes a time where your not doing anything but managing information over load, rather then using it. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication. Snickers is my reward of choice. I always got all work with deadlines done, but there are definitely better things to do with my remaining time. I am definitely guilty of a form of self-sabotage.

Did it make you laugh or cry? Ummm not laugh or cry - it made me feel relieved that i was finally getting over my procrastination issues! I noticed that whenever I get a lot of work, I start to procrastinate because of all of the stress that comes along with it. It's so easy to stress out and think about all of the work that needs to get done. I decided to download this book in order to stop me from procrastinating on the things that I really need to get done.

It's so easy to say that I will do it later and then nothing gets done. I loved the tips in this book.

I loved the advice to take a break and clear my mind. This has really helped me to become more efficient and to get more done. I feel more motivated after reading this book and feel that I will be able to stop procrastinating and get my work done. Great booK! Very useful book, got to the point very quickly. It's like he was speaking directly to me!

Forgot to do ghusl and prayed

It was like it was from MYYY point of view, not just some therapist telling me what to do and barking orders at me. The narrator for this has a nice voice too. I like it when they have the smooth voices. Such a great book! I'd been a chronic procrastinator in so many aspects of my life and this book has helped remedy so many of them.
